La scuola- School

Hmm.. I don't know what to say for today. Shocking, I know. Today was somewhat uneventful. I got up and had breakfast and then got ready for the day.
I woke up to this BEAUTIFUL bowl of fruit this morning. I'm sorry, but fruit just does not look this good in the U.S. and it doesn't taste as good either. The oranges still have the branches and leaves on them!! I find this to be pretty cool.

Around 11:30 I hopped on the bus to head into the city center. From there I slowly wandered through the streets on my way to class, trying to scout out a new panino shop. I ended up getting a salame  (not salami) and pecorino panino. It was very good, but the salame was spicy, which I wasn't expecting. I ate my panino on the front steps of the Santo Spirito church. (This is the piazza that my school is in. Also the full name of the church is the Basilica  St. Mary of the Holy Spirit (Basilica Santa Maria del Santo Spirito), but it is simply referred to as Santo Spirito. One of these days I will head inside and take some pictures. It is supposed to be beautiful.)

This was my view during my lunch, taken from the church side of the Piazza. There are many different merchants that come each day.

The Piazza.

Il mio panino. (My panino.)

This is a view of the Palazzo from my classroom. This was later in the afternoon after all the merchants had left. The church is all the way to the right.

Today I had class from 1pm to 6pm. First I had my psychology class. The class is cross cultural psychology, so today we did an intro and talked about the different stereotypes that Americans have of Italians and vice versa. One of the books we will be reading for this class I will also be reading for another class. (The Monster of Florence. I will have lots of info for you on this once I start reading. It sounds really interesting! For your peace of mind though, I wouldn't Google it. Just trust me.)
After psych, I had my Italian class again. We practiced conjugating some verbs to review, and read an article about the influence of foreign words on the Italian language.
I can tell already that this semester will be a lot of work. But the focus is on how these issues relate to Florence and Italy, so that will make them enjoyable! Tomorrow I have to go buy all the books that I need for my classes. I'm going to need a second suitcase just to being them all back home!

I had a wonderful dinner again. Some spaghetti with bacon (not the kind of bacon you would think of) and then some chicken, bread, pineapple, and these wonderful things called palmine. (Because they are like a palm of the hand.) They are airy, but have a crunch, and are sweet. A very good dessert! Apparently they also come with chocolate, but my host mother said even though she loves chocolate, she prefers the plain ones.

**Today during dinner, my host family told me that I speak Italian very well! Much better than some of the other host students that they've had did when they first arrived. That definitely boosts my confidence in speaking! :D **

Il future e` adesso, non indugiare!
The future is now, do not delay!
