La Cena. Dinner.

Hello everyone. Today's going to be a pretty short blog. (Have to balance out with yesterday right?)

Well I was up pretty late last night. (The blog took about two hours to write,edit,and upload the pictures.) so today being Friday, with no plans until later in the day, I slept in until about 11. From there I got ready and had my breakfast, which was closer to lunch time than breakfast.
Seeing how my weeks are pretty busy going to seeing things in addition to class, I decided I really needed to get ahead on my homework. So I spent about 5 hours in my house today reading. Currently I'm reading "An Italian Education" which is about an English guy who moved to Italy when he was in his 20s and ends up marrying an Italian woman. He's a writer but didn't want to write travel books on Italy. (Because how well do you really know all of those places?) So this book is about what he does know. His Italian life, and his children's lives. How does an Italian become an Italian, or an Englishman become an Englishman. He depicts the modern Italian family and modern Italy. It really is very good, and quite funny! It shows both the good side of Italy as well as the bad and weird side.
After reading for 5 hours I decided to take a quick 30 minute nap before heading out to meet up with friends from my program. Before I laid down Stella was sitting on the end of my bed as I read. Upon me laying down she came crawling up by my face and laid down to cuddle. :)

 

After my nap I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some chicken breasts for our dinner. 10 of us (most of the people that stayed in Florence for the weekend) decided to get together for a "family dinner". All of us brought stuff for the meal. It was really good. We had bruschetta, pasta carbonara, chicken, salad, and wine. Everyone else took a bunch of pictures so once I get them I will post some. They should be pretty funny. We definitely had a good time. After, we decided to go out for gelato. We went back to the gellateria de neri. (With the straight Nutella.) I got 3 different flavors that I hadn't had before. I got the Nutella gelato (which was actual gelato, not just Nutella) then I got micata (which pretty much tasted like a snickers bar) and then cioccolato amaro (which was a very dark chocolate with a hint if something else that I couldn't identify.)

After gelato I headed home. I was about a block away from my bus stop when I saw my bus coming down the street. Since it was later at night the buses don't come as often and I didn't feel like waiting for 20 minutes for the next one. So I decided to run as fast as I could across the river. The bus got there right before me and luckily my running was worth it and I was able to get on the bus.

Well that's all for now. I should head to bed so I can get up at a decent hour tomorrow. My mother is going to take me around the neighborhood tomorrow! :D
