Ravioli. Ravioli.

Ciao Tutti!

Sorry for not posting last night. I had a bit of a headache, and in all honesty, not that much to write about. :( After a long week I spent the day relaxing and watching some TV episodes online. I was able to get a VPN through school (Minnesota) so that I can watch shows in the U.S. 

During the afternoon, my friend Maria and I were trying to decide what we would do for dinner. I got put in charge of finding a place for dinner. This is the first time I got to choose since I've been here, so I was a little bit nervous. I was in the mood for either ravioli or tortellini, which was good since it was Friday. At first I looked up "best ravioli in Florence" online, which I didn't find anything too appealing. Although, I did find that Giada de Laurentiis has a website of all of her favorite restaurants in Florence. I will have to check out some of those places in the future! I then turned of the travel books that I had in my bedroom, and found a place that had good prices and was listed as one of the best places to eat in Florence. (I have been to the Gelato place she listed, so one down, many to go!)

We went to Il Pennello Trattoria, which is one of the oldest Trattoria's in Florence. It looked very small from the outside, but once we got inside it had 3 separate rooms! 

I ordered the Ravioli which was filled with ricotta with spinach, in a butter and sage sauce. It was honestly some of the best ravioli I have ever had. 

The picture doesn't really do the flavor justice, but trust me, it was to die for. I honestly moaned after my first bite. (Sorry, for the pile of parmesan cheese on the one ravioli. That would be my doing. I got a little too excited!)

I also had another one of my truffles yesterday. I had the tiramisu truffle. It was good, but not amazing. It had all of the right flavors, but just didn't have that little pit of punch you get when you bite into it. The best way I could describe it is that it had the flavor of the alcohol and chocolate, but not the actual thing. It was good, but I don't think that I will buy another one of that kind.
